Song of the Day: Stubborn Love by The Lumineers

I’ve heard their name around for a while but never really given them much thought, they’re always just been a name banded about but there’s never been much eagerness to listen to them. However, when it came to finding something new to listen to their name jumped out.

I’m glad it did. The vocalist has a lovely voice, kind of gruff at points but smooth at others and there’s something very Mumford and Sons about them, but they’re not a complete copy. (more…)

Song of the Day: I Will Wait by Mumford and Sons

This is their brand new song foreshadowing their upcoming album, and I think we’re in for something special when that comes out.

Mumford and Sons are absolutely brilliant and there was a lot of doubt concerning the second album but hearing I Will Wait blows away any doubt whatsoever. There’s no point in it lingering because this track completely blows it away! (more…)

I only first heard this the other day, which is why I love WordPress so much, it can introduce you to some really good music. I’ve heard of Frank Turner, he seems to be making a pretty big splash lately, but I’ve never heard of Emily Barker and The Red Clay Halo and they’re pretty awesome. Especially with Fields of June. This guy sounds like Rod Stewart,that’s really the first thing that strikes you about Jon Allen, especially with Happy Now. His rough vocals give this otherwise moody folk song a rocky edge. (more…)
