Looten Duke – Our first gig back will be at the Edge of the Wedge

lootenduke

Looten Duke, another Portsmouth band, have been gigging since 2013. Since they got together they’ve released their debut single and video called (There’s No Way I Could) Lose My Mind. They offer up a blues/rock sound and have been on a mission to get it out to as many people as possible by hitting the pubs and local venues.

We kept missing each other at Victorious but we finally managed to catch up over email. Joshua Elkington chose hos fiva random numbers and took on our question cards.

The Cadbury Sisters – good music is all about relatability and that doesn’t always mean lyrics

Cadbury Sisters

The Cadbury Sisters are a three-piece group made up, unsurprisingly, of sisters. They came to Victorious to play on the Castle stage and they said they had a great time on there. While we’re chatting The Struts are playing on the main stage, the lead singer had previously launched himself into the audience and the sisters were enjoying the show.

Meanwhile, motivated by the cup return tent, there were children jumping into the nearby dumpster rummaging through the rubbish, making  a brilliant welcome to Portsmouth. The Cadbury Sisters were certainly enjoying the atmosphere and revelling in the slight chaos around them, having fun watching. We caught up with Lucy, Mary and Jess beside the Castle Stage, and they said it was one of the best interviews they’d had. (more…)

Hometown Show – contrary to rumours Seasick Steve is not joining the band

hometown show

We caught up with Hometown Show at Victorious last year, and they were more than happy to create a tradition and come talk to us before heading onto the stage for their set. They have been busy in the year that has gone by, releasing their debut album Love, Liquor and Lonely Nights, playing at the O2 in London and taking on the task of curating and headlining the Real Ale Stage at Victorious.

The band is always fun to talk to and this was no exception. All four were present for the interview, so we were talking to Matthew Harrison, Josh Hibberd, Trevor Thwaites and Caz Batten. They spared us a few minutes outside the Real Ale Stage. (more…)

Imperial Mammoth – I bring all the things I like the most in case I do die

Imperial Mammoth

Imperial Mammoth are an American band who have just made their debut appearance in the UK. Their performance on the Nevada Acoustic Stage at Victorious was one of their first over here. They decided to go for a stripped back show as they were put on the acoustic stage. The group consists of Leonard Jackson and Laura Jane Scott, and they are two of the loveliest people we’ve met.

They were genuinely happy for a chat and seemed up for all the questions. They’re still playing around the UK so fingers crossed they’ll receive the same reception that they had at Victorious while they’re here. (more…)
