Cultivating great musical taste

Owls of the Swamp 140 Character Interview

Owls of the Swamp is the project of Australian Pete Uhlenbruch and is wonderfully charming and folksie. Latest single The Hypnotist was recently chosen as a Musical Nourishment Song of the Day and remains a favourite track. One of the best things about Owls of the Swamp is that not only is Uhlenbruch a creator of brilliant music but he is a fan of it too.

He very kindly agreed to a 140 character interview and a very interesting one it was too! So here’s the first interview from across the other side of the world:

@Musicment: @owlsoftheswamp  Why the name? Touring or recording, why? A song of yours you’d recommend? How did you get into music? Anything else tos ay?

@owlsoftheswamp: @Musicment ‘Owls of the Swamp’ is actually the Enligh translation of my Germany surname ‘Uhlenbruch’… Well, an 80% accurate translation…

@owlsoftheswamp: @Musicment Just finished series of UK/Germany/Aus tours for my new single ‘the Hypnotist’… recording album #3 over the next few months…

@owlsoftheswamp: @Musicment Yes, my new single ‘the Hypnotist’! I was so happy to have the Swell Season’s @MarketaIrglova record backing vocals and pianos…

@owlsoftheswamp: @Musicment I was born with music flowing through my veins… Started on the flute before discovering guitar when I was 16… the guitar won!

@owlsoftheswamp: @Musicment Music is the light of the world, and when people come together through a shared apprecation of music miracles happen… folk on!

If this has intrigued you then definitely go and listen to The Hypnotist….and if you’ve already done that go and listen again. I, for one, look forward to listening to more music from Owls of the Swamp. Don’t forget to follow on Twitter.
