Queen of Goth Returns
Yes, she’s back and she’ll leave you Spellbound.
She’ll be returning in pure Rhapsody at the Southbank Centre in London, not Israel, during the Yoko Ono Meltdown Festival. Her songs will most likely turn the Southbank Centre into a Happy House on the 15 and 17 of June. No, her name isn’t Christine, it’s Siouxsie Sioux.
Yes, the woman who fronted Siouxsie and the Banshees as well as The Creatures will be returning to the stage next month. It’s been a while she last graced the stage and it’s good to know that she’s still got it in her to make a return.
She has brought us some excellent music from that amazing cover of Dear Prudence to the slightly creepy and entirely mesmerising Rawhead and Bloody Bones, highlighting a versatility that no one has nowadays. There’s also an amazing variety to her voice and the way she switches from the high notes to the low makes it seem easy. In fact, revisiting her songs has made it glaringly obvious how artists such as Florence Welch have been influenced by Siouxsie.
I have managed to get a ticket for her show on 17 June, so be sure to keep an eye out for a review on here.
