Cultivating great musical taste

Song of the Day: I’m a Pilot by Fanfarlo

I’m not going to lie, I’ve been on a musical binge lately, but one of the most satisfying splurges has been Fanfarlo, in particular their song I’m a Pilot.

Sometimes the quest for good music can be hugely disappointing, most of the artists being too similar and those with a glimmer of hope tend to ruin their potential by following the latest fad in mainstream music. But not these guys, they’re awesome.

They follow no fad and forge their own path, and it’s a path many fans should take. I’m a Pilot is a shining example of their talent, melodic duets mixed with the lovely, flowing sound of the piano and strumming guitar. A violin is thrown in to add a bit of discord, all together the sound is wonderful, it’s like heaven in your ear.

The constant beat adds a certain amount of strength and completely boosts the power of the vocals, it contributes a conviction that is so refreshing to hear in the lyrics. They are never belted out, the most masterful part of this track is that the vocals remain steady and it’s the music that gets dramatic and leads to the climax of the song.

It’s the sort of song that you can find yourself singing or humming without even realising you’ve learnt the lyrics. It’s catchy and excellent and exciting. Once again I can’t wait to discover all their other tracks.

What do you think?

  1. It’s fab. Harold T Wilkins is my favourite of their songs. What did you think of their other stuff? It seems they have a new record coming soon, too 🙂

    • Oh excellent, I didn’t know about the new record, thanks for that! 🙂 I will have to check out that song. I quite like the rest if their stuff, it’s the sort that easily gets stuck in your head!
