‘Jon Condon’ New Single From Mary Dillon
It has been announced that Irish folksinger Mary Dillon, sister of Cara Dillon, will be releasing her first single after a 15 year break from music. Jon Condon is about a fourteen-year-old’s experience in World War One and its release coincides with 11 November, Remembrance Day.
Dillon has a haunting and melodious voice that gives justice to the story of Jon Condon, it captures the mood of the event and delivers it and exceptionally beautiful track. If you recognise it that might be because Dillon recorded the demo of it back in 2003 which has since become a folk favourite.
To celebrate her return she will also be treating folk fans to her debut album North, which will be released on 4 February. It will feature appearances from younger sister Cara, composer Neil Martin and Eamon McElholm.
With Jon Condon as a preview, North promises to be a wonderful album of Irish folk music and a perfect way to welcome Dillon back into the musical fray.
