Song of the Day: Run Boy Run by Woodkid

For those of you wondering, yes I did hear this first on the new O2 Priority advert, but adverts are a great way to be introduced to new music. And wow is this great.

The start isn’t the best but the further you get into the track the harder it is to tear yourself away. I don’t use the term mind-blowing often but this is a track that comes very close to that adjective.

I think this comes down to a very simple formulas; Morrisseyesque vocals + incredibly catchy and soaring music = optimum musical enjoyment. (more…)

Mercury Prize Nominee Ben Howard With Every Kingdom

I’ve never listened to Ben Howard before, at least not intentionally. His music may have been on in the background at some point but never have I paid him much attention.

But now that I’ve listened to this album he has garnered some respect from me, perhaps the most noticeable thing about him is that gruffly edged voice, it’s a quality that can draw a person in. (more…)

Song of the Day: Stand By Me by Ben E. King

Indeed, Stand By Me is an old song, and one that you might not expect to see me post. But I rediscovered it a few days ago and forgot how much I loved it.

My first memory of it was, I think, Timon singing it to Pumbaa. I’m almost certain there was a video called Around The World With Timon and Pumbaa and towards the end the meerkat sang it to the warthog and it was always my favourite part, needless to say I was very young. (more…)

An Apology for Absence and The Super Sweet Blog Award

So, as you may have noticed, I haven’t posted in a while. Don’t worry this blog isn’t going anywhere. It was just a bad time of being busy and my internet going down, so I’m very sorry for not posting for a while.

But now I’m back and I have a chance of responding to an award nomination I received just before the Internet problem. It has come from The Jenny Mac Book Blog, so thank you very much for the nomination. As with most awards there are a couple of things to do to accept the nomination:

  1. Give credit and mention the person who nominated you for the award.
  2. Answer the Super Sweet questions:
  3. Nominate a baker’s dozen(13) bloggers to pay it forward to

The questions are:

1. Cookies or cake? Cookies

2. Chocolate or vanilla? Chocolate

3. What is your favorite sweet treat? The Lindt Lindor chocolates, they’re the best in the world!

4. If you had a sweet nickname, what would it be?  Sweetie (which is totally original)

My Nominees:

As usual when it comes to these things I am indecisive so I open it up to everyone. If you want to answer the questions then feel free to do so.
