Song of the Day: Christine by Siouxsie and the Banshees
One of the all time greatest bands with one of their all time greatest songs. That says it all really, but that won’t do will it?
If you’ve never heard of Siouxsie and the Banshees I’m inclined to ask if you’ve been living under a rock your entire life, however, since the band have not recently made any music and have stopped touring I suppose I can give you some leeway.
They had hits with Israel, Spellbound, Hong Kong Gardens, Happy House, their cover of Dear Prudence and this one, Christine.
This punk, gothic band have a whole host of musical gems, combining the soothing vocals of Siouxsie with ever present and supportive backing of the band. This signature sound is just as prominent in Christine as it is in any of their other songs.
The lyrics create a sense of delirium with image after image bombarding your mind, they have always had a special way with words, imagination being as much a part of the tracks as the vocals and instruments.
if you’ve never listened to this band before, then take some time out now to do so.
