Cultivating great musical taste

Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend

Today is the start of BBC Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend. It’s the biggest event they’ve ever put on and huge and unknown artists alike will be flocking to Hackney to perform for thousands of people. If you were unable to register for a ticket you can watch a live stream on the official website.

Any music lover should check this out. While Radio 1 place a massive emphasis on already established artists they also dedicate themselves to new music. At the festival this weekend (and all the other festivals they’ve held before) they have included an In New Music We Trust Stage which is all about the mostly unknown artists that have captured the radio station’s interest.

Aside from that there are other brilliant acts gracing the stage over today and tomorrow. You can expect Florence and the Machine, Jessie J, Rizzle Kicks, Kasabian, Example, Leona Lewis, Ed Sheeran and Professor Green to name but a few.

There’s no doubt that it’s going to be a great weekend. Keep an eye out might well be posting about some of the acts.
